Closure on 800 Block of Fort Street This Sunday

The 800 block of Fort Street (between Blanshard Street and Quadra Street) will be closed to all vehicle traffic starting at 7 a.m. Sunday morning for approximately 12 hours, while a tower crane is installed at a development site at 840 Fort Street. The full road closure is required to provide space for the crane to be set up safely by construction crews.

The sidewalk on the north side of the street, along with the two-way bike facility, will be closed in the construction area.  Pedestrians will be directed to the sidewalk on the south side of the street, and cyclists will be directed dismount and walk their bikes along the south sidewalk past the work area. Access to all businesses and residential buildings in the area will be maintained for pedestrians and outreach to the local businesses to make them aware of the road closure has been done.

BC Transit will reroute busses during the closure period, transit users should look for instructions from BC Transit for any temporary bus stop closures or relocations. Signage and traffic control crews will be on Fort Street for the duration of the work to advise the travelling public about the road closure.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes during the closure period.
