Inaugural Council Meeting Thursday, November 1

The inaugural meeting of the new City of Victoria Council will occur at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 1.

The Mayor and Council Elect will be led into Council Chambers by the Lekwungen Traditional Dancers, and a First Nations blessing will be conducted by Councillor Garry Sam of the Songhees Nation. Victoria’s Poet Laureate Yvonne Blomer will read one of her poems, and The Honourable Regional Administrative Judge Carmen Rogers will administer the Oath of Office to the newly elected Mayor and eight Council members. The Very Reverend Ansley Tucker, Rector of Christ Church Cathedral will give the Invocation, after which Mayor Lisa Helps will deliver an Inaugural Address.
