Canadian Flag to be Flown at Half-Mast for Police and Peace Officers’ National Memorial Day

To mark Police and Peace Officers’ National Memorial Day, the Canadian flag at City Hall will be flown at half-mast on Sunday, September 29. The flag will be lowered to half-mast late Friday and raised to full mast on Monday morning.

This national memorial day gives Canadians an opportunity each year to remember police and peace officers who have lost their lives while on the job. The Canadian flag on all Government of Canada buildings across the country and provincial buildings across BC will also be flown at half-mast.

Closures for the annual B.C. Law Enforcement Memorial parade for fallen members will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the 700 block of Government Street. The Ride to Remember and Run to Remember events will follow on the grounds of the B.C. Legislature until 4:00 p.m.
