GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon is Sunday

The GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon will celebrate its 40th annual event on Sunday, October 13. Over 8,000 participants are expected in the Marathon, Half Marathon, 8K Road Race and the Thrifty Foods Kids Run.

The event has become one of the largest annual sporting events on Vancouver Island. The Marathon is held annually on Thanksgiving weekend. Good luck to all participants!

6:30 a.m.    Marathon Early start
8 a.m.         Marathon and Half Marathon start
8:50 a.m     8K Road Race
10:30 a.m.  Thrifty Foods Kids Run

Participants should park in the downtown area prior to 7 a.m. and walk the short distance to the start. There will be limited access to the downtown core as the races begin at 7:55 a.m. through to 8:50 a.m. Parking is not allowed on the race routes. Special event signs will be put up along the course for the safety of all participants and public on Sunday morning beginning at 2:30 am.
Road Closures
The Marathon will affect vehicular traffic in the following areas: Downtown, James Bay, Cook Street Village, Beacon Hill Park, Fairfield, Oak Bay and Uplands. View the road closure schedule.

Police, City staff and race organizers are working to ensure a safe route for the participants and the community. All traffic, including transit, will be controlled by the local police and official course Runners must take extreme caution at all times. Residents and commuters should expect delays, and be prepared to use alternate routes.
Times for road closures are approximate.The area around the Parliament buildings is the last to open as takedown of the finish line, etc must occur. When the road is re-opened, participants must move to the sidewalks and obey local traffic laws.
Roads will be re-opened on a rolling schedule as the participants pass through the various neighbourhoods. No parking is allowed on the race route and signs will be posted.
