About the Teams

Victoria Red Cross ESS Volunteer Team
Emergency Social Services Personal Disaster Assistance Responders provide assistance for the first 72 hours following an emergency. British Columbians forced from their homes by fire, floods, earthquakes or other emergencies receive Emergency Social Services for up to 72 hours. Services may include food, lodging, clothing, emotional support, information about the crisis, and family reunification.

The City of Victoria and Canadian Red Cross have partnered to provide seamless Emergency Social Services from emergency response to recovery for Victoria residents. The City is the first municipality in the Capital Region to partner with the Canadian Red Cross to deliver Emergency Social Services.

Cyclist Response Team
Cyclists can play an important role in an emergency response. After an earthquake in Victoria, cyclists may be able to access roads, pathways and bridges that vehicles can't, to help move people, information and materials from one location to another. The City’s Cyclist Response Team trains in bicycle trailering, maintenance and repair, first aid, rapid damage assessment, radio communications and wayfinding.

We hope you can make it!
