Canadian Flag to be Flown at Half-Mast for Firefighters' National Memorial Day on Sunday

The Canadian flag will be flown at half-mast at City Hall on Sunday, September 13 to mark Firefighters’ National Memorial Day. The flag will be lowered to half-mast late Friday afternoon and raised to full mast on Monday morning.

We recognize the recent passing of former Victoria Fire Department members retired Captain Joe Patterson, Master Mechanic Bob Hamilton, Assistant Chief Don Irish, former Victoria Fire Chief and City Councillor Eric Simmons and former Victoria Fire Chief Richard A. Couch (2018), and thank all of the firefighters in the Victoria Fire Department and beyond for all you do to ensure our property and neighbourhoods are kept safe.

This national memorial day gives Canadians an opportunity each year to remember firefighters who have lost their lives while on the job.
