Have Your Say: Take the Build Back Victoria Survey

The temporary Build Back Victoria program to support local businesses and physically distanced pedestrian activity during the pandemic runs through to October 31, 2021. The City is asking for feedback on potential changes to improve the program for the spring and summer.

In the spring of 2020, we launched Build Back Victoria to help local businesses respond and make it through the COVID-19 Pandemic,” said Mayor Lisa Helps. “The initiatives allowed for businesses and the City to reimagine public space and enabled residents and visitors to experience the city in a new way, whether by visiting a food truck, strolling down the middle of Government Street or attending a yoga class in a park. As we extend our commitment to these initiatives, we are asking for the public’s feedback to help inform how we can continue to support businesses in the months to come.”

Build Back Victoria included a number of new temporary options for businesses to apply to expand their footprint and safely conduct commercial activities, such as:

  • Flex Space and Temporary Patios
  • Businesses in Parks
  • New Customer Loading Zones
  • New Mobile Vendor Locations
  • Partial and Full Street Closures
  • Pedestrian Priority Treatments on Government Street

Residents, businesses and visitors who experienced Build Back Victoria initiatives are encouraged to fill out a 10-minute survey to share their feedback at engage.victoria.ca before February 22, 2021.
