Unique Summer Banners Reflect Salish Culture

The City’s biennial summer banner program showcases the talents of local artists and reflects the vibrancy and creativity of the city. The City commissions artists to create original artwork that remains on display for two years between May to October.

For the 2021-2022 summer banner program, Indigenous Artist in Residence Dylan Thomas collaborated with LessLIE and Margaret August to create four unique designs. Approximately 400 banners are displayed all over downtown lampposts.

“It is an honor to have any opportunity to share Salish culture through public art,” said Dylan Thomas.
