Now Accepting Applications for Strategic Plan Grants

Have a great idea for a project or program that supports the actions and outcomes of the City of Victoria’s Strategic Plan, builds community resilience and advances Council’s stated values on equity? Non-profit and community organizations are invited to submit applications for the City’s annual Strategic Plan Grant funding by January 31, 2022.

In 2021, Council provided more than $470,000 in Strategic Plan Grants to 53 community organizations. Close to $500,000 in funding is available this year.

Last year’s grants supported a range of projects, such as a community food-sharing program, Indigenous reconciliation circles, mental health counselling for newcomers, a youth suicide prevention program, and housing support for women impacted by domestic violence.

Strategic Plan Grants are awarded for projects and programs that support one or more of Council’s eight objectives that guide the City’s work:

1. Good Governance and Civic Engagement
2. Reconciliation and Indigenous Relations
3. Affordable Housing
4. Prosperity and Economic Inclusion
5. Health, Well-Being and a Welcoming City
6. Climate Leadership and Environmental Stewardship
7. Sustainable Transportation
8. Strong, Liveable Neighbourhoods

Free Virtual Workshop

To assist potential candidates with their application, a free virtual workshop will be held on Wednesday, January 12 and Wednesday, January 19 from 9 a.m. – noon. The workshop will provide a detailed overview of the grant application process and an opportunity to ask questions. To sign up to participate, email grants@victoria.ca.

The City’s annual Strategic Plan Grant program has funded 339 projects, investing $3.5 million in the community since it was first established in 2015.
