The City of Victoria is developing a Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan and is seeking community input at an upcoming series of open houses and pop-up events. Public input will help inform the Plan, which will identify actions for the City in collaboration with multi-sector partners, to help make the community safer and more inclusive for everyone.

The community is invited to drop by an open house or pop-up to learn more and share their concerns, experiences and suggestions on:

Public engagement to date has included an online survey which closed in mid-May and facilitated community dialogues with representatives from over 40 local organizations. Community conversations are also being held with members of the Songhees Nation, the Esquimalt Nation and local Indigenous organizations and the communities they serve.

Input gathered will help inform the Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan’s recommended actions that will be presented to Council for consideration in September.

In August 2023, Mayor Marianne Alto convened an 11-member Community Leaders Panel to guide the Plan’s development. The Panel includes Indigenous, business, public health, housing, law enforcement, fire prevention, local service provider and neighbourhood leaders.
