From home energy efficiency to electric vehicles, there are several incentive programs to support you taking action on climate change.
Heat Pump Incentives
Keep your home cozy in the winter and cool in the summer with a climate friendly heat pump. There is up to $11,000 available in rebates when you upgrade your oil or natural gas fossil fuel heating system to an electric heat pump. Heat pumps run on renewable electricity to deliver heating, cooling, air filtration and dehumidification safely and conveniently.
Learn more about heat pumps on the Climate Friendly Homes page.
Current heat pump rebates include:
- up to $11,000 for switching from oil or gas (CleanBC Better Homes + BC Hydro + Canada Greener Homes)
- up to $24,500 in combined income-qualified offers (CleanBC Better Homes Income Qualified Program + Canada Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Program)
- up to $7,000 for switching from existing electric heating equipment (Canada Greener Homes + BC Hydro)
- up to $500 for a Capital Regional District (CRD) Group Purchase Rebate
For more information and to apply for rebates, please visit CleanBC Better Homes.
Solar Rooftop Tool
Ever wonder what the solar potential of your home or business is? Installing solar panels on your home or business rooftop is a great way to help make buildings in Victoria climate friendly.
The new Solar Rooftop Tool can be used to determine the amount of sunshine that almost any building in Victoria receives over the course of a year. The tool shows potential solar power generation for specific rooftops in the city. It can also provide an estimate of how much a photovoltaic (PV) energy system (or solar array) would cost and point to any available rebates.
The tool was developed with support from the University of British Columbia, the University of Victoria and others. Visit the About page to learn more.
Electric Vehicle Charger Rebates
Multi-unit residential building owners and managers can apply for EV charging rebates through the CleanBC Go Electric EV Charger Rebate Program.
If you live in a condominium or apartment and would like support for EV charging from your strata council, PlugIn BC and Emotive have resources available to help.
Learn more about EV chargers and systems in residential buildings on the Electric Vehicle Readiness page.
Home Energy Navigator
The Home Energy Navigator program streamlines home energy upgrades for single-family homes. The program offers a free, local Energy Concierge who gives customized support through home energy upgrades. This includes:
- rebate navigation
- virtual home energy consultation
- quote reviews
- customized retrofit roadmap
Residents can participate in the program by filling out a registration form at homeenergynav.ca. Residents can also call 1.866.381.9995 and ask to speak with an Energy Concierge who will walk residents through the registration process over the phone.
Rebates and Resources for Business
The City has a Rainwater Rewards Program that incentivizes sustainable rainwater management, which allows the community to use rain as a resource and helps developed water sheds mimic the function of natural systems.
