Recreation

• Recreation services are moving to the City’s interim recreation facility at 851 Broughton St.
• The interim facility, Victoria Recreation Centre, will provide continued access to recreation services while the permanent replacement facility is being built.  
• Repairs and upgrades are underway to prepare the facility for City use, with an opening planned for early 2027.
• Victoria Recreation Centre will feature expanded fitness areas, group fitness rooms, a gymnasium and squash courts and limited swimming due to the pool’s smaller size. 
• Sign up to receive project updates and notifications about the Crystal Pool Replacement Project. 

• All time-based memberships, including Continuous Passes, will be suspended effective September 25.
• Regional Recreation Passes will continue without interruption, provided account payments remain in good standing. 
• Patrons with time-based memberships will receive account credits for any unused time.
• Per-visit passes will remain on patron accounts and may be used at Victoria Recreation Centre once it opens.
• Refunds may be requested by calling 250-361-0732 ext. 0 or emailing crystalpool@victoria.ca.
• Please allow two to three weeks for refund processing. 

• Arena programs, including skating lessons and drop-in public skating will continue this fall following the closure of Crystal Pool.
• Community and Outdoor recreation programs will continue across the city throughout October and November.

• All personal training sessions will remain on patron accounts and may be used at Victoria Recreation Centre once it opens.
• To arrange a personal training session during the temporary closure, please contact your trainer directly. 

A recreation reception desk will be available for limited in-person service at City Hall starting on October 19. Check back here for hours of operation. 

The City of Victoria’s Leisure Involvement For Everyone (L.I.F.E.) program improves access to recreation services and programs for individuals and families living on a low income. 

Applications

L.I.F.E. program applications will continue to be accepted during the temporary closure:

• A recreation reception desk will be available for limited in-person service at City Hall starting on October 19. Check back here for hours of operation. 

Can I visit other regional recreation centres after Crystal Pool closes?

• Yes. Eligible participants may continue to use their 52 free drop-in visits at participating regional recreation centres. Please ensure your 52-visit sticker is current by checking the end date printed on it.

What if my sticker is expired? How do I get a new sticker?

• Visit the Crystal Pool Front Desk before September 25 to request a current year new sticker.
• At the recreation reception desk at the public service centre in City Hall starting in October. Check back here for the opening date.

LI.F.E. Credits

• L.I.F.E. credits are provided for the full two-year term.
• Credits may be used toward registration fees at Victoria Recreation Centre, as well as community and seniors centres within the city.
