Trail Closure Notice
A section of the multi-use trail in Banfield Park is closed for BC Hydro work until October 15, 2026. A signed detour route is in place to support safe travel through the area.
Visit BC Hydro's Project page for detailed information, timelines and construction updates.
Banfield Park is in Victoria West along the Gorge Waterway. It includes tennis courts, a basketball court, a leash-optional area, a playground, natural landscapes, walking trails and access to the Gorge Waterway. The park also connects to the Galloping Goose Regional Trail and Selkirk Trestle.
Banfield Park is home to community gardens including Banfield Commons, a permaculture food forest and the Victoria West tea garden. Victoria West Community Centre is also in the park.
Banfield Dock
Banfield Dock provides easy access for swimming and paddling in the Gorge Waterway. The expanded dock was officially opened in 2024 and has become a popular summer destination for visitors.
Please follow these tips to help keep this shared dock clean and safe for the community and the environment:
- Dogs must be on leash — dogs are not allowed to swim in the marine park
- Swim in the designated swim area
- Share the space with others
- Take all belongings and garbage with you when you leave
- No glass containers or sharps
- No large umbrellas or sun shelters
- Leave the black walkway clear
- Non-motorized small watercraft only (like kayaks, SUPs, canoes)
- Don’t leave watercraft unattended
