VICTORIA, B.C. — The Declaration of Candidates running for mayor and council in the City of Victoria’s 2026 Local Government Election is now available at victoria.ca/election.
In mid-September, Victoria residents will receive information on when and where to vote through an informational postcard and a special election edition of the Connect newsletter, sent by mail. The newsletter, info sheets in multiple languages and a helpful video will be available on the City’s website.
General Voting Day will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. All municipalities and electoral areas in B.C. will be holding local government elections on the same day.
A list of five advance voting opportunities in Victoria is available on the City’s website. Eligible Victoria voters may request a mail ballot starting Sept. 14 until 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026.
Eligible voters in Victoria will vote to elect:
One Mayor
Eight Councillors
Three CRD Directors
Two School Trustees (Greater Victoria School District 61)
The ballot will also include the non-binding question: Do you support Saanich and Victoria becoming one municipality?
