City Hall to Light up Purple to Mark International Overdose Awareness Day

City Hall will light up purple tonight to mark International Overdose Awareness Day, a global initiative intended to raise awareness, reduce stigma of drug related deaths and acknowledge the grief of family and friends.

This year’s theme “Recognizing those people who go unseen” honours the people whose lives have been altered by overdose. They are the family and friends grieving the loss of a loved one; workers in healthcare and support services extending strength and compassion; or first responders who assume the role of lifesaver.
