Downtown Victoria is buzzing this winter, thanks to the OUR DWTN Ideas Fund. This initiative funds exciting events, programs or projects that will transform downtown Victoria during the quieter months of January to April.
Some highlights include:
Black History Month Fashion Show: A bilingual celebration of African fashion and Black history, presented by British Columbia Black History Awareness Society.
Immersive Jam Victoria: Interactive, motion-controlled art installations in downtown storefronts, brought to you by Hololabs.
GNO Street Team: Peer-support teams enhancing safety in the nightlife scene downtown, organized by Good Night Out.
DWTN Winter Lime: A family-friendly celebration of Caribbean food, music and culture at Ship Point, hosted by Vancouver Island Caribbean Hub.
Another Life: Nighttime film screenings to illuminate and beautify Fort Street presented by Victoria Arts Council.
Jungle Boogie by Whistle Buoy: A family-friendly day of art, music and community connection organized by Whistle Buoy.
In addition to funding these initiatives, the OUR DWTN Ideas Fund is building an eligibility roster of projects, ensuring flexibility to add new events as budgets allow. Some events may be one-time activations, while others may pave the way for ongoing collaborations.
These projects celebrate creativity and community, ensuring downtown Victoria remains vibrant and welcoming all year. For more information on the OUR DWTN Ideas Fund and event details, visit victoria.ca/OURDWTN.
