General Voting Day for the Crystal Pool Referendum is Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Victoria voters will have the opportunity to vote on whether the City of Victoria may borrow up to $168.9 million to replace the Crystal Pool and to select a preferred site option: Central Park North or Central Park South. Information about the Crystal Pool Replacement Project is available at crystalpool.ca.

Who Can Vote
To be eligible to vote, you must be a Victoria resident, 18 years of age or older on General Voting Day, a Canadian citizen and a resident of British Columbia for at least six months. If you own property in Victoria but live elsewhere, you may be eligible to vote as a non-resident property elector.

Ways to Vote
You may vote in the Crystal Pool Referendum at an Advance Voting Opportunity, on General Voting Day or by mail ballot.

Advance Voting Opportunities
Advance voting will be offered from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, Monday, February 3 and Wednesday, February 5 at the Crystal Garden at 713 Douglas Street. An accessible voting machine will be available.

General Voting Day
Victoria voters can vote at any of the 10 voting locations on General Voting Day – Saturday, February 8 from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Each voting place will have at least two voting machines, and the Crystal Garden voting place will have an accessible voting machine.

Vote by Mail Ballot
Starting January 6, Victoria voters may request a mail ballot by completing an online form at victoria.ca/referendum, by calling 250.361.0571 or by coming to City Hall in person from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. by Friday, January 31 at 4 p.m. 

Completed mail ballots should be placed in the mail by February 1

After February 1, mail ballots may be returned to the Drop Box at the Pandora Avenue entrance of City Hall or by 8 p.m. at an advance voting opportunity or at any voting place on General Voting Day. Mail ballots must be received by the City of Victoria by 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025 to be counted.  

Accessible Voting
Services are available to assist people with accessibility needs, to vote. All voting places are wheelchair accessible. Voters who are unable to enter a voting place can vote at the curb or in the parking lot, and an accessible voting machine will be available at the Crystal Garden.

Assistance is available to voters unable to mark a ballot due to a physical disability or who have difficulty with reading or writing. Voters needing assistance to mark their ballot may bring another person who will be required to sign a declaration, or voters may ask an Election Official for assistance. 

ID to Bring When Voting
Registered voters must present one piece of ID that includes their signature to prove identity. Those registering to vote must present two pieces of ID, one of which must include their signature. For a list of acceptable ID to bring to vote and to check to see if you’re on the Voters List, visit victoria.ca/referendum.
