Council voted unanimously in support of the Crystal Pool Replacement Project advancing to design and construction on the north side of Central Park.
Council’s site selection follows staff recommendations and voters’ preference from the recent referendum to replace the facility in its current location.
This decision allows staff to move forward with design and construction of a new high-quality, accessible health and wellness facility. The future centre will include expanded pool and fitness facilities, a gymnasium and several multi-purpose spaces to host a wide range of recreational activities.
“Now that the location has been confirmed, we’re eager to get to work on the design with our consultants as soon as possible,” said Director of Parks, Recreation and Facilities, Derrick Newman.
As the project moves forward, staff will provide quarterly updates to Council and the public. Stay informed at crystalpool.ca or by subscribing to Crystal Pool Replacement Project email updates at victoria.ca/signup.
Replacing the Crystal Pool facility is one of priorities identified in Council’s 2023-2026 Strategic Plan.
