Starting March 1, 2025, new fees are coming to the City’s EV fast chargers.
The new fees are charged more fairly for all users, based on the power used. Charging at the City’s direct current fast chargers will now cost $0.35 per kilowatt hour.
These changes only apply to the City’s EV fast chargers, located at Crystal Pool and Fitness Centre and Victoria West Park.
The new fees replace the previous per-minute rates, which were more expensive for older, slower-charging vehicles. These rates align with BC Hydro’s fast charging fees across the province.
These fees will also apply to new EV fast chargers expected to open in four neighbourhoods in 2025.
In addition to our direct current fast chargers, the City has more than 220 Level 2 EV chargers in parkades and public spaces downtown and continues to expand and improve the charging network.
The City’s Climate Leadership Plan sets a target for 30 per cent of passenger vehicles in Victoria to be renewably powered by the end of this decade, reaching 100 per cent by 2050.
