The nomination period for people wanting to run in the City of Victoria’s 2022 Local Government Election opens tomorrow, August 30 at 9 a.m. and will close at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 9.

Potential candidates can pick up a Mayor or Council nomination package in person at the Legislative Services Office at Victoria City Hall, 1 Centennial Square, weekdays from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 

Nomination Packages for School Trustee are available through the Greater Victoria School District at sd61.bc.ca.

Completed nomination packages must be submitted in person at the Legislative Services Office at Victoria City Hall during the nomination period. Appointments are strongly recommended. To schedule an appointment to submit a nomination package, call 250.361.0571 or email elections@victoria.ca.

Only eligible candidates who have filed their papers and paid their $100 nomination deposit by the close of nomination will be included on the ballot.

General Voting Day will be held on Saturday, October 15 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. All municipalities and electoral areas in B.C. will be holding local government elections on the same day.

Voters in Victoria will vote to elect:

  • 1 Mayor
  • 8 Councillors
  • 9 School Trustees (Greater Victoria School District 61)
  • 3 CRD Directors

The City’s Candidate Profile Guide, which has information provided by each candidate, will be available in late September.
