The Canadian flag will be lowered to half-mast at City Hall and all City buildings on Remembrance Day to honour those who have served our country. We express our heartfelt gratitude for those who have made sacrifices so we may live with peace and freedom.

Remembrance Day Ceremony

The province’s official Remembrance Day Ceremony, organized by the Victoria Remembrance Day Committee Poppy Fund, will be held on Friday, November 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the provincial cenotaph at the B.C. Legislature on Belleville Street. 

Road Closures
Road closures will be in effect on Friday, November 11 from approximately 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and will include:

  • Government Street from Fort Street to Superior Street
  • Belleville Street from Menzies Street to Douglas Street
  • Wharf Street from Fort Street, through Humboldt Street to Gordon Street

Poppy Campaign
Poppies are available by donation at local venues. You also have the option of donating to the Digital Poppy Campaign.

Holiday Hours and Parking

City of Victoria facilities will be observing the holiday schedule below for Remembrance Day. Police, fire and those who provide emergency streets and utility services are available 24/7.

Organics and Garbage Collection
Organics and Garbage Collection will not occur on Friday, November 11. 

Saturday Garden Waste Drop-Off
On Saturday, November 12, the Garden Waste Drop-Off at the Public Works Yard will be open from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Learn more about this residential service.

Emergency Streets and Utilities Services
Emergency streets and utility services are not affected by the holiday and can be contacted day or night at 250.361.0400

Parking
Parking will be FREE at City Parkades and at on-street meters on Friday, November 11 for Remembrance Day. At City parkades, there is free evening parking and free parking on Sundays and holidays.
