The Royal Victoria Marathon is happening on Sunday, Oct 12. 
Whether you're running, cheering or just trying to get around town, here’s what you need to know to stay ahead of the crowds and closures. 

Where:
Victoria and Oak Bay  

Race Schedule:  

Saturday, October 11, 2025  

  • Starts and finishes at Willows Beach Park, Oak Bay  
  • Kids Race: 10 a.m.  
  • 5K Race: 9 a.m.  

Sunday, October 12, 2025  

  • Start and finish at the Legislative Grounds, downtown Victoria  
  • Marathon & Half Marathon: 8:15 a.m.  
  • 8K Race: 7:15 a.m.
  • Post race festivities: 10 a.m-3 p.m.

Getting There  
  • Walking, cycling or taking transit is recommended.
  • A free, secure bike valet will be available at Superior St. and Menzies St., starting 6:30 a.m.
  • Check BC Transit alerts for route changes. 
     
Road Closures 

Expect delays and detours all weekend. Plan ahead and give yourself extra time to get around. 

Saturday, 10 a.m.-Sunday, 6 p.m.:
Belleville St. (Oswego to Government St.)
Menzies St. (Belleville to Quebec St.)

Sunday, Midnight-10 a.m.:
Menzies St. (Quebec to Superior St.)

Sunday, 7 a.m. -3:15 p.m.:
Dallas Rd, including Clover Point


Race Route
  • Closed from 7 a.m. until the last runner passes
  • See map for estimated reopen times


Parking
  • No parking on race routes
  • Starts at midnight on Sunday, Oct. 12
  • Cars parked on the route may be towed
  • Parking reopens after runners pass each section

Getting Around James Bay

Before 7:45 a.m.

  • Use Superior St., Simcoe St. or Niagara to Douglas St.

After 9 a.m.

  • Most roads will reopen, except around the James Bay perimeter and Inner Harbour.
  • Dallas Rd: Closed until after 2 p.m.
  • Use Michigan St., Simcoe St. or Niagara to Douglas St. for best access

Dallas Rd

  • Closed until after 2 p.m.

Coho Ferry Access

  • Ferry terminal stays open
  • Delays expected, arrive early to avoid missing your boat
