VICTORIA, B.C. — The playground at Stadacona Park will reopen on September 10, following the completion of repair and replacement work that began in August

“The climbers are ready, the slides are shining and we’re excited to welcome families back to this much-loved neighbourhood play space,” said Brooke Stark, Assistant Director of Parks and Open Spaces. “We’d also like to thank the community for its patience, support and fundraising efforts throughout this process.”

The new play structure and surface bring the playground back to its previous state, with minor adjustments made based on equipment availability. New features include an inclusive duo spinner, a six-foot tube slide, a three-foot sensory roller slide and additional climbing elements that enhance play for children across a range of ages and abilities.

The playground replacement project was completed within a budget of $350,000, funded through City contingency reserves. The City also received $11,562 through a community-led fundraising campaign, helping to offset a portion of project costs.

Later this year, the City will make landscape improvements in the park to improve visibility and support a safer, more welcoming park environment.
