Today, three local children joined Mayor Marianne Alto to serve as “Mayors for the Day” to learn how their local government works.
Olivia 6, Brayden 9 and Norah 11 along with Mayor Alto toured City Hall, wound the historic clock tower clock, visited the Johnson Street Bridge control room and toured a fire hall.
Each Mayor for the Day received a framed proclamation and enjoyed a pizza lunch with the Mayor.
The children participated in the Victoria Votes Kids Colouring Contest offered during the 2022 Local Government Election to engage youth to learn more about the importance of voting. Their colouring sheet submissions were randomly selected, earning them the opportunity to be Mayor for the Day.
