A new public washroom is open 24/7 at the corner of Broughton Street and Douglas Street.
The prefabricated washroom unit, like the Langley Loo on Langley Street, provides additional accessibility features for people with a wide range of abilities. An accessible parking stall has been installed next to the washroom.
The washroom will be cleaned twice per day, seven days per week. The City's contracted security team will conduct security checks during hours of operation.
The Broughton Loo increases access to public washrooms in the downtown core and reduces impacts to businesses located near late night hospitality venues. The project was launched in 2021 following a report on late night activity in the downtown core. The location was selected for its compatibility with transportation and safety requirements. The new washroom also supports Council’s strategic priorities around Community Well-Being and Safety, and Economic Health and Community Vitality.
