Get ready to celebrate the holiday season at the 42nd Peninsula Co-op Santa Claus Parade! The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, in downtown Victoria.
Parade Route:
The parade starts at Government and Belleville Streets, heading north on Government before turning right onto Humboldt Street. It continues along Douglas Street, ending at Douglas and Fisgard Streets.
Getting to and from the event:
Expect significant traffic congestion due to road closures starting at 4 p.m. Plan to arrive early, and bus, bike or walk if you are able. Check BC Transit for updates on temporary bus stops and route changes.
Take advantage of the City’s free Downtown Bike Valet in Centennial Square, available from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Road Closure Details:
James Bay
From approximately 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., roads around the Legislature and Inner Harbour will be closed:
- Government Street (Superior to Humboldt)
- Belleville Street (Menzies to Douglas)
- Menzies Street (Superior to Belleville)
Superior Street
Remains open for James Bay access; BC Transit will continue service in the area.
Humboldt Street
Closed from Government to Douglas Streets from approximately 5 to 7:30 p.m.
Douglas Street
Closed from Belleville to Bay Streets from approximately 4:45 to 7:30 p.m. Traffic cannot cross Douglas Street during this time. The parade ends at Fisgard Street, and Douglas Street will remain closed up to Bay Street to allow float dispersal.
Wharf Street
Open to local traffic only, closed to other vehicles from approximately 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Johnson Street Bridge
Open, however, vehicles cannot cross Douglas Street from approximately 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Travel Tips:
Use the Bay Street Bridge if heading east of Douglas Street.
Need to get Downtown?
Access downtown via Government, Blanshard, Quadra or Cook Street, but expect delays. Note that crossing Douglas Street will not be permitted during the parade.
