The City of Victoria has stepped up its street cleaning operations with 24/7 services that ensure cleaner streets, sidewalks and public spaces around the clock.
“A lot of people don’t see it, but there’s a crew of seven to 10 people out there every single night of the year cleaning streets and public spaces,” said Jason Adair, Manager of Civic Services. “Our team’s top priority is to keep Victoria looking its best.”
A dedicated team member helps to coordinate crews and respond to public concerns around the clock, so issues like overflowing waste bins, debris buildup and street obstructions are now addressed faster than ever.
While most people are asleep, crews are busy keeping the city clean. Nightly tasks include:
- Emptying public garbage cans
- Sweeping and flushing roads and bike lanes
- Power washing sidewalks and plazas
- Collecting litter
- Checking construction sites for hazards
- Removing graffiti
- Identifying spots needing additional repair work
If you come across a maintenance issue, please contact us, day or night.
