Project scope
Upgrades include road repaving, traffic signal upgrades, new dedicated left-turn lanes, one-way protected bike lanes on each side of the street, improved crosswalks, accessibility upgrades and new accessible parking spaces, lighting and landscaping improvements.
Work from Humboldt Street to Caledonia Avenue is expected to be complete in June 2025, with plans to extend work to Kings Road in the north later in 2025-2026.
Why now?
With the completion of recent underground work along Blanshard Street, the City is making transportation upgrades to one of Victoria's key corridors to improve safety for all road users while addressing critical road maintenance needs.
Project impacts
While work is underway, you can expect the following temporary impacts:
- Changes to traffic patterns, parking or loading
- Construction and safety equipment
- Noise, dust, debris and odours
- Road closures
Advance notification will be provided directly to those affected if access to private property is impacted.
