Project scope
The City is replacing a water main on Government Street between Pandora Avenue and Yates Street. The project is expected to be completed in June 2025.
Why now?
Upgrading our underground assets helps serve our growing community, reduces future maintenance costs and protects critical infrastructure from earthquakes and climate events.
This work is taking place ahead of the planned Government Street Refresh project, which is slated to start in 2026. Construction for these projects is being done separately and between busier shopping and tourism seasons to limit disruptions to businesses.
Project impacts
While work is underway you can expect the following impacts:

- Traffic lane restrictions
- Temporary loss of some on-street parking
