Construction kicks off this month on the second phase of improvements to Topaz Park.

The City is adding an 11-court pickleball hub, a new outdoor fitness area, a central gathering space, a misting station and connecting pathways.

"I’m pleased to see the next phase of Topaz Park improvements take shape,” said Mayor Marianne Alto. “These features invite more residents of all ages to explore and enjoy this new active play space in Topaz Park.”

The construction of a new pickleball hub helps meet increasing demand for pickleball facilities in Victoria and supports the City’s Strategic Plan goal to improve recreational sports amenities.

“We are tremendously excited at the news of the groundbreaking,” said Roger Graves, president of the Victoria Regional Pickleball Association. “This will be a fantastic facility, and we can’t wait to get on the courts.”

During construction, a section of the Glasgow Street parking lot will be closed and traffic may periodically be impacted on Glasgow Street. Park amenities outside the work area – including the skate park, playground and sports fields – will remain open.

Construction is expected to be completed in fall 2025.
