Project scope
Upgrades will include protected bike lanes on each side of the street, new crosswalks, traffic signal improvements at Douglas and Blanshard St. and new speed humps east of Quadra St. To accommodate these changes, on-street parking on Tolmie Ave. will be removed from Alder to Quadra St. Work is expected to be complete in fall 2025.
Why now?
These upgrades will improve safety for people walking, riding and rolling and provide better connections to the Galloping Goose Regional Trail while addressing critical road maintenance needs.
Project impacts
While work is underway, you can expect the following temporary impacts:
- Changes to traffic patterns, parking or loading
- Construction and safety equipment
- Noise, dust, debris and odours
- Road closure
Advance notification will be provided directly to those affected if access to private property is impacted.
