City of Victoria facilities will be observing the holiday schedule below for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Police, fire and emergency streets and utility services are available 24/7.

Facility Closures – Tuesday, Sept. 30

  • City Hall
  • Beacon Hill Park Maintenance Yard
  • Public Works Yard
  • Victoria Conference Centre and Administration Office
  • Crystal Pool and Fitness Centre

Curbside Organics and Garbage Collection  

No collection on Tuesday, Sept. 30. Please refer to the Waste Collection schedule.  

Saturday Yard and Garden Waste Drop-Off  

Drop-off at the Public Works yard will be open on Saturday, Sept. 27. This service is for Victoria residents only and not for commercial use. For more information, call 250.361.0400 or view the Yard & Garden Waste webpage.    

Emergency Streets and Utilities Services  

Emergency streets and utility services are not affected by the holiday and can be contacted day or night at 250.361.0400.  

Parking  

Parking will be free at City parkades and at on-street meters for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Tuesday, Sept. 30. City of Victoria parkades are always free on Sundays, holidays and daily after 8 p.m. Learn more about parking downtown.

4th Annual South Island Powwow 
The Songhees Nation, with support from the City of Victoria, invites Greater Victoria residents to the 4th annual South Island Powwow on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. The Powwow is hosted on the homelands of the lək̓ʷəŋən people at Royal Athletic Park on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a federal statutory holiday also known as Orange Shirt Day. The venue offers a space for Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities to come together in honour, healing and unity.  

Gates open at 10 a.m. Grand entries take place at noon and the event ends at 8 p.m.
