A wind warning and coastal flooding statement are in effect for Victoria on Thursday afternoon, with gusts up to 90 km/h expected.
Be cautious near the coastline. Possible coastal flooding, significant winds, waves and high ocean water levels are expected.
The following areas are closed for safety:
- Ross Bay Seawall from Memorial Crescent to Clover Point
- Little Ross Bay beach access
- Gonzales beach access
- Lower walkway at Holland Point Park
Here’s What You Can Do
- Avoid parking vehicles under trees or hydro wires during stormy weather.
- Secure loose items around your home such as garbage cans, patio furniture, retractable canopies, ladders, building materials, banners and awnings.
- Be prepared for power outages. Make sure to charge your cell phone and have flashlights, blankets, a portable radio and spare batteries on hand.
- Move away from the shoreline if you see signs of coastal flooding.
- Don’t drive through flood waters.

- Fallen branches or trees – call the City’s Parks department at 250.361.0600, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. On weekends or after hours, call 250.361.0400.
Prepare Your Emergency Kits
