VICTORIA, B.C. — Based on Council’s initial budget deliberations, the City’s 2026-2030 Draft Financial Plan (2026 Draft Budget) has been updated and is now ready for public input.

Provide feedback in writing or by pre-recorded video by January 23, 2026, to help inform Council’s budget decisions.

A 5.42 per cent tax increase is currently proposed for the City's portion of the budget, investing $384.1 million in operating costs and $84.5 million in capital improvements to deliver more than 200 programs and services the community relies on. When combined with the Police Department’s 5.02 per cent increase request, the total proposed tax increase is 10.44 per cent.

To inform the City’s 2026 investment priorities, budget engagement to date has included a random Ipsos telephone survey and community conversations co-hosted with six, equity-seeking organizations.

Public feedback will be shared with Council early next year as they work to further reduce the City's portion of the tax increase.
