Project status
Planning

Project scope

The City is completing a multi‑phase program to line underground sanitary sewer and storm drain pipes across the city.

The project will take place at various locations throughout Victoria, with short‑duration work occurring in each area.

Why now?

This work strengthens aging infrastructure and extends the service life of existing pipes without the need for extensive excavation.

Timeline

Work will be completed in two main phases in 2026:

Phase 1: Cleaning and inspection (June to August 2026)
Pipes will be flushed and inspected

Phase 2: Pipe lining installation (August to October 2026)
A new liner will be installed inside the existing pipe

Project impacts

During cleaning and inspection:

  • Temporary traffic and parking restrictions
  • Construction noise
  • Brief gurgling in toilets or drains during flushing

During lining installation:

  • Temporary traffic and parking restrictions
  • Construction noise, including brief hissing sounds during liner curing
  • Temporary resin odour (not harmful and will dissipate)

If work will directly impact your property, you will receive a 48‑hour construction notice with more detailed information.
