VICTORIA, B.C. — The Crystal Pool and Fitness Centre will close permanently on Sept. 25, 2026, to allow for construction of the City’s new health and wellness facility.
Recreation programs and services will transition to the City’s interim recreation facility at 851 Broughton Street. The facility, to be named Victoria Recreation Centre, will provide continued access to recreation services while the permanent replacement facility is being built. Repairs and upgrades are underway to prepare the interim facility for City use, with an opening planned for early 2027.
The Crystal Pool has been a valued community facility for 55 years, creating opportunities for recreation, health and connection for generations of residents. This closure marks a significant milestone as we move toward the next phase of the project.
The Victoria Recreation Centre will offer expanded fitness areas, multi-purpose rooms, a gymnasium and squash courts. Aquatic services will continue with swimming lessons, aquafit and swim club programs prioritized and reduced drop-in swimming due to the pool’s smaller size.

Before the facility closes, residents are invited to celebrate Crystal Pool's legacy and memories. From September 11 to 25, visitors can check out historical photos in the Crystal Pool lobby, sign the memory wall and get a commemorative Crystal Pool sticker with admission.
The Crystal Pool Replacement Project remains one of the City's largest investments in recreation infrastructure and will deliver a more accessible, sustainable and inclusive facility designed to meet the community's needs now and into the future.
