VICTORIA, B.C. — General Voting Day for the City of Victoria’s Local Government Election is Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. 

Who Can Vote
To be eligible to vote, you must be a Victoria resident, 18 years of age or older, a Canadian citizen and a resident of British Columbia for at least six months. If you own property in Victoria but live elsewhere in B.C., you may be eligible to vote as a non-resident property elector.

Ways to Vote
Eligible voters may vote in the City of Victoria’s Local Government Election by mail, in advance or on General Voting Day. 

Vote by Mail Ballot
Victoria voters may request a mail ballot by completing an online form at victoria.ca/election, by calling 250.361.0571 or by coming to City Hall in person from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. by Friday, Oct. 9 at 4 p.m. 

Completed mail ballots can be returned by mail, to the drop box at the Pandora Avenue entrance of City Hall, during an advance voting opportunity or by 8 p.m. at a voting place on General Voting Day.

Postage is included for mail ballot packages mailed within Canada. If you have requested a mail ballot but have not received one by General Voting Day, please contact City of Victoria Legislative Services at 250.361.0571. Your mail ballot must be received by 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, to be counted.

Advance Voting Opportunities
There will be five advance voting opportunities. All will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., except for the University of Victoria location which will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. An accessible voting machine will be available at the Victoria Conference Centre and Crystal Garden. 

  • Oct. 7: Victoria Conference Centre, Upper Pavilion, second floor, 720 Douglas St.
  • Oct. 13: Crystal Garden, 713 Douglas St.
  • Oct. 14: Crystal Garden, 713 Douglas St.
  • Oct. 14: University of Victoria, Student Union Building, Michèle Pujol Room, 3800 Finnerty Rd. 
  • Oct. 15: Crystal Garden, 713 Douglas St.

General Voting Day
Eligible voters can vote at ANY of the following locations on General Voting Day on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.:

  1. Central Middle School, 1280 Fort St.
  2. Crystal Garden, 713 Douglas St.*
  3. George Jay Elementary School, 1118 Princess Ave.
  4. Glenlyon Norfolk Senior School, 781 Richmond Ave.
  5. James Bay Community School, 140 Oswego St.
  6. Oaklands Elementary School, 2827 Belmont Ave. 
  7. Quadra Elementary School, 3031 Quadra St. 
  8. Quadra Village Neighbourhood Gym, 950 Kings Rd.
  9. Royal Canadian Legion Branch 292, 411 Gorge Rd. East
  10. Sir James Douglas Elementary School, 401 Moss St.
  11. Victoria High School, 1260 Grant St.
  12. Victoria West Elementary School, 750 Front St.

*An accessible voting machine will be available.

Accessible Voting
For voters with accessibility needs, services are available to help you vote.

  • A priority line for those who need it at all voting opportunities.
  • All voting locations are wheelchair accessible. 
  • Voters who can’t enter a voting place, including parents and caregivers, can vote at the curb or in the parking lot.
  • An accessible voting machine will be available at: 
  • Advance voting opportunities: Victoria Conference Centre, Upper Pavilion (Oct. 7) and Crystal Garden (Oct. 13, 14 and 15)
  • General Voting Day on Oct. 17 at Crystal Garden
  • Voters needing assistance to mark their ballot may bring another person, who will be required to sign a declaration, or ask an election official for assistance.

ID to Bring When Voting
Registered voters must present one piece of ID to prove identity. Those registering to vote must present two pieces of ID, one of which must include their signature. For a list of acceptable ID to bring to vote and to check to see if you’re on the voters list, visit victoria.ca/election.

Candidate Profile Guide
To assist voters in finding information about candidates and to make informed choices in Victoria’s 2026 Election, the City provides an online Candidate Profile Guide. All candidates have been given the opportunity to submit a brief profile and photograph to let voters know about themselves and their platforms. The online guide will be available at the end of September.
