The Royal Victoria Marathon will take place on Sunday, October 9.

Where: Victoria and Oak Bay

When: On Sunday, October 9, the Early Marathon starts at 6:30 a.m., the 8 km race starts at 7:15 a.m., the Marathon/Half marathon starts 8 a.m. and the Kids Race starts at 11 a.m.

Getting There: Visitors are encouraged to walk, cycle or take transit. If you’re biking to take part or watch the event, there will be a free, secure bike valet provided by Capital Bike at Belleville Street and Government Street open at 6:30 a.m. Check BC Transit alerts for bus route advisories.

Please expect traffic delay and road closures.

Road closures will be as follows:

  • Belleville Street from Oswego to Government will be closed from 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 8 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 9.
  • There will be limited vehicle access to the downtown core and rolling road closures along the race route between 1 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 9.
  • Parking will not be allowed on the race routes. Once the final runners pass through each section, parking will reopen.
  • Getting Around James Bay: On Sunday, October 9, before 8:30 a.m., the best way to get out of James Bay will be going east on Simcoe or Toronto to Douglas and turning left. After 8:30 a.m., most roads will be open except around the perimeter of James Bay and the Inner Harbour. It would be best to take Michigan, Toronto, Simcoe, or Niagara to Douglas after 8:30 a.m. There will be rolling road closures, so roads will open up as soon as the last runner has passed through (except Dallas which will be closed until after 2 p.m.).
  • Access to the Coho will be maintained. Please expect delays and arrive in plenty of time.
  • Roads will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.
