Making with Plants Series: A Community Dye Garden Project

Beginning in May, Trudi and Kemi will be on site in the garden on Wednesday mornings between 10-11:30 a.m. They will be mulching, seeding and experimenting with dye plants and would love your help. You are invited to drop-in anytime during their garden office hours to volunteer, experiment and play. No experience is necessary.

Photodynamic Garden Workshop with Kemi Craig & Trudi Lyn Smith

This workshop will experiment with plant-based photography, a dynamic image-making process engaging everyday ecologies. Participants will learn how to make emulsions with plant materials, creating images in relationship with plants at the Wark Street Community Garden, the sun and the weather. Our hope is to embrace an ethically-grounded practice of photography that introduces participants to a lively relationship between humans, images, and plants.  No previous experience is necessary. All materials will be supplied but feel free to bring a picture frame with a glass plate for your image.

Date: Friday, May 24, 4-6 p.m.

Location: Wark Street Community Garden - 941 Kings Road

Please email culture@victoria.ca to register for this free event.
