Kick off the festive season with the 41st Peninsula Co-op Santa Claus Parade.

The Parade begins at 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, November 25 in downtown Victoria.

Organized by the Greater Victoria Festival Society, this annual parade features floats, music and entertainment for the whole family.

The Society will be collecting food and cash for the Mustard Seed Street Church and Food Bank.

Parade Route

The parade route will begin in front of the Legislature on Government and Belleville Streets. It will then turn right onto Humboldt Street and will travel along Douglas Street, ending at Fisgard Street.

The community is invited to stop by the Victoria Public Market - Hudson Holiday Plaza at 1701 Douglas Street for entertainment and vendors.

Getting There

Visitors are encouraged to walk, cycle or take transit. Please expect traffic delays in the area. Check BC Transit for temporary bus stops and re-routing.

The City’s free Downtown Bike Valet in Centennial Square will be open on Saturday, November 25 from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Road Closures:

James Bay

From 3:30-7:30 p.m. approximately, roads surrounding the Legislature and the Inner Harbour will be closed:

  • Government Street, from Superior to Humboldt Streets
  • Belleville Street, from Menzies to Douglas Streets
  • Menzies Street, from Superior to Belleville Streets

Superior Street

Superior Street will remain open for access in and out of James Bay. BC Transit will continue to operate in and out of James Bay.

Humboldt Street

Humboldt Street, from Government to Douglas Streets, will be closed from 5-7:30 p.m. approximately.

Douglas Street

Douglas Street, from Belleville to Bay Streets, will be closed from 4:30-7:30 p.m. approximately. Traffic will not be allowed to cross Douglas Street during this time.

The Parade will end at Fisgard Street. Douglas Street will remain closed to Bay Street to allow for parade floats to disperse.

Wharf Street

Wharf Street will remain open, however, motorists will be advised that they can't go through Government Street or Douglas Street until 7:30 p.m. approximately.

Johnson Street Bridge

The Johnson Street Bridge will remain open, however, vehicles will not be able to cross Douglas Street from 4:30-7:30 p.m.

Travelling from Victoria West and Esquimalt - Take Bay Street Bridge

If you’re heading into downtown from Victoria West or Esquimalt, it’s best to take the Bay Street Bridge if your destination is east of Douglas Street.

Need to Drive Downtown? 

Take Government, Blanshard, Quadra or Cook Streets into downtown but expect delays. The public won't be able to cross over Douglas Street during the Parade.
