The City has replaced the outdated Subdivision and Development Servicing Bylaw with three new bylaws that clarify processes, set modern engineering standards, and align with the City’s Official Community Plan and growth goals. One of these new bylaws is the Works and Services Bylaw.
The new bylaws embed climate resilience, green infrastructure and accessibility into street design — advancing complete streets, mobility options and urban forest targets.
Clearer requirements and updated standards will simplify development and permitting processes, reduce uncertainty and ensure infrastructure meets current and future needs.
The Works and Services Bylaw updates standards for infrastructure and services in the public right-of-way.
These changes:
- Streamline processes and improve clarity for subdivision
- Provide clarity for servicing at the time of building permit
- Provide updated, modernized works and services in line with current engineering best practice specifications and what the City has been building
- Ensure infrastructure meets current and future needs for transportation, utilities and stormwater management
