Join an Ideas Workshop and have your say on the future of places and spaces in James Bay!

The City of Victoria is updating the Official Community Plan (OCP) for Victoria to meet the needs of our growing population and address the housing and climate crises. The OCP will incorporate directions and plans from recent neighbourhood plans into the proposed update to ensure each area of Victoria can grow and maintain its special charm while still aligning with OCP framework.

James Bay does not have a recent neighbourhood plan. Join the Ideas Workshop and help shape how this area can grow and change into the future.

Children are welcome and lunch will be included. The workshop is open to anyone who lives, works, plays, or has a keen interest in the future of the area.

    • Opportunities to enhance and better integrate open spaces and greenery.

    And explore questions such as:

    • How could James Bay Village evolve to meet future needs and create lively and welcoming public spaces?

    • How could a smaller urban village in the west part of the peninsula serve residents and visitors?

    • How can James Bay can better connect to the waterfront and Beacon Hill Park?

    • How will the Inner Harbour and Legislative Precinct, with connections to regional transportation, serve future employment and tourism needs?

The workshop will begin with an overview of the 10-Year Official Community Plan Update before digging into considerations and opportunities for place-based planning in James Bay.
