Join the City of Victoria for Zero Waste Day — a free, hands on event focused on repairing, reusing and recycling everyday household items.

Zero Waste Day brings together local partners and repair experts to help extend the life of common items, reduce landfill waste and support a circular economy.
What’s happening
Most activities run throughout the day, with scheduled mending workshops offered at set times.
All day activities (11 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
• Repair café
Volunteer repairers will do their best to help fix small household items.
• Reuse donation drop off
Donate clean, gently used items in good working condition.
• Specialty recycling drop off
Select recyclable items that can’t go in curbside bins.
• Kids Zone
Family friendly activities focused on waste reduction.
Hands on mending workshop (11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.)
Patch-based mending workshop using a hand stitching technique - “Tsugi Hagi”. Participants who wish to take part in the hands on portion must bring a textile garment with a hole to repair.
Space is available for up to 10 hands on participants, on a first to arrive basis. Others are welcome to observe.
Mending demonstration (1:30 p.m.– 2:30 p.m.)
This demonstration focuses on repairing thigh blowout holes in pants using both sewing machine and hand stitching techniques.
