Strata Energy Advisor Program

The City of Victoria launched the Strata Energy Advisor program in 2024 to help condo buildings in Victoria go all electric and lighten their carbon footprint.

The program provides strata councils with an energy advisor who will visit your building and provide hands-on guidance for climate and energy upgrades, like heat pumps and switching from natural gas to renewable electric heating. The energy advisor will create a personalized decarbonization plan that aligns energy and climate upgrades with required building replacements to keep costs low and stay on top of new regulations.

Victoria and Saanich partnered with the Zero Emissions Innovation Centre (ZEIC) to deliver the program and application process. Applications are currently being accepted.

For more information, including eligibility requirements and to apply for the program, visit strataenergyadvisorbc.ca

Solar Energy

Installing solar panels on your home or business rooftop is a great way to help make buildings in Victoria climate friendly. The City’s solar tool shows how much sun your rooftop gets annually.

Electric Vehicle Charger Rebates

Owners and managers of multi-unit residential buildings can apply for EV charger rebates through the CleanBC Go Electric EV Charger Rebate Program.

If you live in a condo or apartment and would like support for EV charging from your strata council, PlugIn BC and Emotive have resources available to help.

Learn more about EV chargers and systems in residential buildings on the Electric Vehicle Readiness page.

Rental Apartment Retrofit Accelerator Pilot Program

The City of Victoria launched the Rental Apartment Retrofit Accelerator Pilot Program in May 2024 in an effort to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of market rental buildings. The program offers a municipal property tax exemption covering up to 100 per cent of the costs to upgrade the building to an electric air or water heating system.

To administer the program, the City has partnered with Landlord BC, who will guide participants through the planning and application process. Apply at LandlordBC.ca/RARA. Applications are currently being accepted.

If you have any questions about the program or require support, please contact sustainability@victoria.ca.
