Arts & Culture

Victoria is the regional centre for arts and culture. The City of Victoria works to create and support a community that is a natural draw for artists, festivals and events.

Arts and Culture Master Plan

To guide its vision and role in supporting arts and culture, the City developed Create Victoria [PDF/8.7MB], a five-year Arts and Culture Master Plan. This document identifies initiatives to increase cultural opportunities in the City.

Statistical Analysis of Arts and Culture Sector

A statistical analysis of Victoria’s arts and culture sector based on custom data from the Statistics Canada Census 2021 is now available.

The analysis examines professional artists and cultural workers separately; their numbers, occupations in the industry, demographics and incomes. The City will use this statistical data to inform its planning processes and how it supports cultural community development with local artists and cultural workers.

Annual Grant Programs

The Festival Investment Grant program provides support to organizations producing festivals and celebrations that deliver significant economic impact, vitality and vibrancy within the city of Victoria, particularly the downtown core.

The Cultural Infrastructure Grant program supports safe and accessible cultural spaces, which are an essential part of our community.
